After 23 years, we are still
going strong! Our group has evolved over the years. |
The foundation for the Main Attraction is James Cadell. A musical actor since 1973, James spent a year performing in the Pirates of Penzance on Broadway and on national tour. His regional credits include performing the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors at Act Theatre, and singing the role of Joe in Showboat for the Coeur D'Alene Civic Light Opera Company. Locally, James is a well known voice for commercials like Key Bank, Taco Time, and Oberto sausage.
The crown of the musical structure is 2nd tenor Ronnie Rowland. Healing from the Bay Area, Ronnie is a UW graduate where he was the first running back since Hugh McElheny to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. A career in the CFL followed where he received All-Pro honors. Ronnie's earliest memories and influences were those of his mother playing the piano around the house and in church, so it's not surprising that when he hung up the cleats he picked up a microphone.
First Tenor Lee Haldorson began singing out as an eight-year-old boy when a music teacher in his grade school took him under her wing and put him in front of his entire school at assemblies. At age eleven, Lee's father brought him a saxophone and that changed everything. By age sixteen, Lee was playing night clubs six nights a week in New Jersey. He has performed with some notable jazz names including Paul Horn, Don Lamphere and gospel artists Bob Bennett and Brian Duncan. Lee joined the Seattle Band "Freddy Pink and the High Tops" in 1989. That same year he met Antowaine Richardson and the two of them worked together in a pop group called Band-X. Lee brings with him a wealth of musical knowledge and has been a wonderful addition to The Main Attraction.
The Mortar that molds the The Main Attraction into a strong musical structure is Los Angeles native Antowaine Richardson, who sings lead, tenor and baritone; he also handles writing, arranging and producing the group's performing and record efforts. Antowaine's initial successes came as a hard hitting All-American linebacker for the 1978 Rose Bowl Champion University of Washington Huskies. Following a knee injury just before his first start for the St. Louis Cardinals, Antowaine opted for his first love, music. He plays drums and keyboards, but is most known for his distinctive voice. Fans constantly request his commercials at show. Most frequently requested is the My Girl California raisin commercial, which was also used in a 1991 Smokey Robinson television special. That's right, he's a California Raisin.
